In 2016, DC will launch Swamp Thing, Metal Men, Raven, Firestorm, Katana: Cult of the Kobra, Metamorpho and Sugar & Spike. Some of the series will be written by the characters’ original creators. The list of titles and writers are:
Swamp Thing by writer Len Wein
Metal Men by writer Len Wein
Raven by writer Marv Wolfman
Firestorm by writer Gerry Conway
Katana: Cult of the Kobra by writer Mike W. Barr
Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life & Death by writer Amy Chu
Metamorpho by writer Aaron Lopresti
Sugar & Spike by writer Keith Giffen
“We want the best writers working on our characters, and these are the best writers for these characters,” said DiDio.
Of Raven, Marv Wolfman says it’s a way to to tap into the renewed popularity of the character from the Teen Titans Go! animated series.
“When I go to comic conventions it thrills me to see all the young fans cosplaying as Raven from the Teen Titans GO! cartoon show,” said the long-time Teen Titans writer. “Because so many comic fans are boys, it’s wonderful that there’s something about her that connects with both girls and boys.”

One title that will be featuring a decidedly different take on its characters thans seen before in comic books or animation is Keith Giffen’s Sugar & Spike.
“They’re not spoiled kids anymore,” explained DiDio,” but they’re older and they’re operating as private investigators handling problems and mysteries that the superheroes can’t handle themselves.”
USA Today describes these upcoming series as tweaks to these character similiar to what’s been done to Batman and Superman in their comic book series, with an intent to gain more interest in the characters.
“This is about character but there is a complete story in every one of those miniseries,” said DiDio. “It has a beginning, middle and end, and something that affects the course of that character that we would be able to launch and take further if things are successful.”
UPDATE 8:23 AM: “Arrow” and “The Flash” Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg has taken to Twitter, assuring fans that the title making the rounds this morning is not the final title, promising the actual reveal “soon.”
A few months after being announced, the upcoming “Arrow”/”Flash” spinoff series finally has a working title — and it may hint at which one of the show’s many established characters will take the lead. As revealed over on Spoiler TV, the show’s working title is “The Atom,” which indicates that the new series will prominently feature Brandon Routh’s armored-up hero.
Routh debuted as scientist Ray Palmer in “Arrow’s” season three premiere and has since had a recurring role in the show, appearing in fourteen episodes so far. The character will soon make the jump over to “The Flash” in the episode titled “All-Star Team Up.” Of the new show’s assembled cast, which also includes former “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller and “Mad Men” supporting player Caity Lotz, Routh has arguably the highest profile after playing the Man of Steel in the 2006 film “Superman Return.”
In addition to Routh, “The Atom” will star Miller as Captain Cold and Lotz as Canary. Additionally, “Flash” actors Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein) and Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave) will star in the series, alongside newcomers Ciara Renée (Hawkgirl) and Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter). “Flash” and “Arrow” EPs Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim are at the helm of the project, along with Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions.

Welcome to Task Force Collected, recruit… now pay attention! We have intelligence that indicates the upcoming Suicide Squad movie could be the breakout sleeper hit of DC’s upcoming wave of new films. It has mega starpower in Will Smith and Jared Leto, fan-favorite character Harley Quinn’s big-screen debut, and a wealth of great comic stories to mine for material. Are you skeptical that a non ”A-list” title that lacks mainstream name recognition and relies on an ensemble cast of fairly obscure characters can compete with the comic book box office big boys? Tell it to Guardians of the Galaxy, pal.
Your mission, recruit, is simple — Our reconnaissance has identified a classified list of highly sensitive collectible issues relating to the Suicide Squad and its key individual mission. You are to procure one or more of these comic books from the Collected Web Store and keep them safe. Don’t worry; this isn’t Task Force X — should you fail this mission, you won’t blow up… but the prices on the comics probably will the closer we get to the movie release! Act now, and good luck.

The folks over at TVLine.com got a hold of three of the heroes being looked for to be cast in the upcoming Arrow/The Flash spin-off series that is supposed to already have Brandon Routh, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller and Caity Lotz.
The characters they are looking for are:
“THE TRAVELER” – A Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.
“FEMALE WARRIOR” – This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.
“MYSTERY HERO” – An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.
Over at Bleedingcool they start speculating on who they think each of these are. The traveler sounds like Booster Gold and we know that executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had a Booster Gold series he was pitching… so maybe. The female warrior sounds like Wildcat’s granddaughter Yolanda Montez who took over the costume from Ted Grant. And since Wildcat has already been introduced into the universe, it would make sense. While the Mystery Hero seems like it could be Static or Black Lightning. I would lean more towards Static since the character has a really good fan base.
Though her character is dead, Lotz confirmed she is going to be part of the show while at Fan Fest 2015.
What do you guys think?
